This March 2019 VOA news report falsely claims that there is a “wave of hate crimes against Muslims and migrants worldwide,” using it as a rationale for a need for “Muslim community patrols” in the U.S., saying that such patrols are “a source of support for residents dealing with personal crisis.”

The report talks about Muslim patrols that currently exist in New York City which so far has 50 volunteers, and it explains that the program is going to expand its operations to all of New York City.

The video also explains that there is a similar “Asian civilian patrol” in the city as well, and the reporter speaks to people who say the program is necessary because of “racism.”
